Re-Elect
Judge Robin D.

Pittman

Seventeen years on the bench. Hundreds of visits to local schools.

Through the Court’s Intervention Services, along with drug court and domestic violence programs, Judge Pittman has helped people rebuild their lives and find a path forward.

For Judge Pittman, justice isn’t only about punishment. It’s about creating opportunities for people to change their lives. That’s the approach she’s brought to New Orleans for the past 17 years.

About Judge Pittman

For 17 years, Judge Robin D. Pittman has served Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, Section F,
not just as a jurist, but as a neighbor, a mentor, and a voice for the people who stand before her.

Judge Robin D. Pittman was born and raised in New Orleans. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts, graduating cum laude, and her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University New Orleans, where the school’s Jesuit commitment to service and justice helped shape her approach to the law.

Before joining the bench, Judge Pittman served as an Assistant District Attorney, practicing in the Criminal District Court in Orleans Parish; worked as a Deputy Disciplinary Counsel overseeing attorney ethics; and practiced civil litigation at Baldwin Haspel Burke & Mayer. Those experiences gave her a broad understanding of the legal system from every angle, as a prosecutor, a regulator, and a practicing attorney.
When she decided to run for judge in 2009, it stemmed from more than career ambition. She saw a gap in representation. As she has said, “I realized that I really didn’t see many female judges in criminal district court.” She entered the race determined to help change that, and voters elected her to the bench. She has continued serving the people of Orleans Parish ever since.

Her leadership has extended well beyond the courtroom. In 2020, Judge Pittman was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana, where she served for four years and served as Chair for one of those years. In 2022, her fellow judges selected her to serve as Chief Judge of Orleans Parish Criminal District Court, where she was to oversee court operations and help guide policy and administrative decisions. In 2025, she was elected and continues to serve as President of the Louisiana District Judges Association, representing district judges across the state.

For Judge Pittman, public service has never been limited to the courtroom. Whether she’s presiding over cases, speaking with students, or engaging with neighborhoods throughout New Orleans, she remains committed to the community she has called home her entire life.

Where Justice Meets the Community

Judge Pittman’s commitment to New Orleans does not end when court adjourns. She is in the schools, at community events, and in the neighborhoods — investing in the people she serves every day of the week.

School Visits In Every Classroom, In Every District

Judge Pittman regularly visits public schools, private schools, and Recovery School District schools across New Orleans. She speaks directly to students about the importance of education, respect for others, the consequences of their choices, and how the criminal justice system works — with one goal: keeping young people out of the courtroom.

Her judicial staff jokes about "running a nursery" — because of how many elementary school classes she brings into the courthouse each year.

Opening the Courthouse Doors to Fatherless Boys

In 2023, Judge Pittman invited a group of mentees from Son of a Saint — a New Orleans organization that serves fatherless boys ages 10–12 — into her courtroom for a real-world civic education experience.

"Thank you Judge Pittman for your commitment to our youth, empowering them to make choices that propel their dreams, and your service to our city." — Son of a Saint

Bringing the Law to Life for Students

Through the Louisiana Center for Law & Civic Education's Judges in the Classroom program, Judge Pittman takes civic education directly into New Orleans schools — teaching students what the law means, how courts work, and why justice matters to their daily lives.

Active participant since 2016 and award recipient for outstanding commitment to civic education.

A Community Action Hero

Total Community Action (TCA) recognized Judge Pittman as their Community Action Hero — honoring her as a youth program cheerleader and active volunteer with one of New Orleans' leading anti-poverty organizations.

TCA serves thousands of Orleans Parish residents through education, workforce development, and family support programs.

A Voice at Community Events

Judge Pittman is a frequent speaker at community events, civic forums, and legal education conferences across New Orleans and Louisiana — bringing her perspective on justice, equity, and reform to audiences beyond the courtroom.

As President of the Louisiana District Judges Association (2025), she now speaks for every district judge in the state.

Raising the Bar for Legal Professionals

Judge Pittman serves as a Continuing Legal Education instructor in Ethics and Professionalism — teaching practicing attorneys the standards that make the justice system trustworthy for the people it serves.

Investing in the quality of legal representation means better outcomes for every defendant, victim, and family in Orleans Parish.

“Some of the moments that stay with me most are when I run into people around this city who appeared in the courtroom — people who were given a second chance. They look me in the eye and say thank you.”
